PRAISES TEE CUBANS Sampson Speaks Highly of Garcia and His Men Washington June 29The navy de I I paortment today posted the following bulletin giving a report from Admiral Sampson under date of June 22 off Santiago On ths 19th General Garcia and his staff visited the stf flagship having hav-ing arrived that morning at General Ribi camp at Acprraderos My impressions I im-pressions of General Garcia are of the most pleasant character He is a large handsome man of most frank and engaging en-gaging manners and of most soldierly appearance The fleet has with my direction di-rection furnished arms clothing and L food to the Cuban forces both east and vest of Santiago Much ha been done in this direction at Guantanamo by Commander McCalla who ha been most energetic in rendering them all assistance possible Great activity and courage has been shown by the Cubans at Guantanamo and Commander Comman-der McCalla is most eulogistic in reference refer-ence to their conduct There are about 10000 Cuban forces in this immediate vicinity
