Show I PHD LEGISLATURE It is not many days before the legislature legis-lature will meet By constitutional provision the session is limited to 60 days It is ample and more than ample for all the needs of the state the coming session The adoption or rejection re-jection of the work of the code commission com-mission is the main thing to be done in a legislative line That the result of its labors will meet with approval there is little doubt There will be appropriations to make but they should only be made for public pub-lic purposes and then with great economy econ-omy The people of the state having felt the bad effects of hard times for a number of years past their resources are not such as to allow of very excessive ex-cessive taxes for any purpose without putting a great burden upon them Even if the resources of the people and the state were as abundant as could be wished still economy in public expenditures ex-penditures should be the watchword There will be a United States senator sena-tor to elect but that is not a matter which should consume very much time And this will be about all there will be to do The sessi n should be made as short as possible consistent with the interests inter-ests of the people Thirty days instead in-stead of CO should suffice to do all that is necessary providing of course something that is mow unf rseen does not occur requiring a longer session A short session will give the greatest satisfaction to the people |
