| Show IX CJIP FLOYD DISTRICT Increased Activity All Over the Camp > Xotes Mercur Dec 10Jim McEvoy is working several good properties in Silverado canvon all of which have ore A strike was made recently in the Cleveland but the Surprise is the one that contains the highest values Here assays run as high as 165 ounces in silver and 25 in gold The Surprise Sur-prise lies east of the Chloride Point Ore has just been found on the J L C which is believed to be from the same vein as the Chloride Point The extent of the vein has not yet been determined James Foote has taken a contract to do the work on the Little Pittsbunr and is on the ground getting ready for business I is the intaition of the company to do considerable work this winter Colonel Wall has applied for a patent on some of his property in Silverado and has men at work on several claims As several parties are doing their assessment work on claimsIn Silverado and on Chloride Point there is quite a number of men employed in that vicinity lh Mercur Gold Production company com-pany struck ore in its Golden Reward group The strike was made at a depth of 15 feet The boarding house on this property will be completed by Saturday evening and Mrs Goddard of Mer ur will be in charge About 20 men are at work on the property A contract has been let for 200 feet b < t of tunneling on the Badger group and work will be commenced at once The report of the jumping of the Omaha does not seem to have any I foundation in fact Judge Streets decision I de-cision could have no effect on that property and there is no other chance for Jumping A great many claim owners have been filed amended locations lo-cations for record and Recorder Higgins Hig-gins has his desk piled high with notices awaiting their turn for record No jumping of claims seems to be indulged in-dulged in The Hecla shut down yesterday the cause being want of funds The company com-pany seems to have been unable to meet its obligations and was compelled com-pelled to temporarily suspend Operations Opera-tions until it can raise sufficient means to tide it over its troubles I seems too bad that the company has struggled strug-gled along until success seems to beat be-at hand and then break down Of course the suspension is only temporary tem-porary I has been whispered for some time that things were not exactly satisfactory satis-factory at the Sunshine but the news that they had shut down yesterday caused a good deal of surprise Your correspondent is reliably informed that operations in the mine will be continued in the search for higher values The mill will probably be closed down for some time ExSheriff McQueen of Salt Lake City came into town today and went to Lion Hill to look after some claims there in which he is interested I George Etaw has taken a contract I to do the assessment work on the Legal Tender and the Free Coinage A piece of float picked up on the Warren group a few days ago showed assays of over S3 per ton The contract for sinking a thousand feet at the East Golden Gate is completed com-pleted and the total depth from the surface is 1384 feet Another contract I is being considered and if satisfactory to the parties work will be resumed in a few days |
