Show QUEEN LILIN FRISCO I J f i Object of Her Visit at Present J Shrouded in flystery WILL TALK IN A DA OR TWO HER LEUVIXG THE ISLAXDS AX ALI AL-I AROUND SURWUSE Prom What the PasKensers on the China Were Able to Learn on the Trip the DimUy EaMouareh ViI Visit Washington and Then Go onto on-to London May Appeal to Cleveland Cleve-land San Francisco Dec 10ExQueen Liliuokalani of Hawaii arrived unexpectedly un-expectedly from Honolulu on the steamer China this morning The object ob-ject of her visit is at present unknown un-known but the impression which existed ex-isted among the passengers is that Liliuokalani is en route to Washington Washing-ton where it is her intention to make a final and urgent appeal to President Cleveland for the restoration of her throne From the facts which were gleaned it is evident that the starting of Liliuokalani from Hawaii was enveloped en-veloped in mystery No announcement was made of her intention to leave during the time which the China lay durng tme at the wharf between her arrival from Yokohama and departure About ten minutes before sailing time Liliuoka lani made her appearance on board going at once to a stateroom which had been reserved for her and in which she remained until the vessel was well out to sea Colonel MacFarlane who was chamberlain cham-berlain to her brother the late King Kalakaua met the exqueen upon the arrival of the steamer having received re-ceived a notification of her presence on board and escorted her to the California hotel In an interview this afternoon he said he had no knpwledge as to the plans of Liliuokalani and that her coming was a complete surprise sur-prise to him I was never more astonished he said than when I received the announcement an-nouncement of her presence here and as yet she has not confided any information in-formation to me I tell you honestly that I am utterly unable to divine the occasion of her visit which is in the nature of an allround surprise From her conversation I gather that she will remain in San Francisco a week and then visit Washington and possibly possi-bly London It is certain that her trip is made in the interests of herself and people What that business maybe may-be I do not know positively I has nothing to do with the annexation proposition which she naturally opposes op-poses In a few days the queen tells tels me she will make a statement of her plans to the public |
