Show THAT UBER LYNCHING i 1 I Notwithstanding Convicting Evidence Evi-dence Jury Refuses to Indict I Genoa Nev Jan 5The report of the grand jury In the Uber lynching case brought in today was very unsatisfactory un-satisfactory When the court had assembled as-sembled the foreman said I May it please the court we have examined ex-amined into the Uber lynching case and have listened to the testimony of 70 witnesses We have discovered who the guilty parties are anI have sufficient suffi-cient evidence to secure their conviction convic-tion in every case Notwithstanding this fact the jury will not find indictments indict-ments and further deliberation will be a useless waste of time When Interrogated regarding the case against the sheriff Foreman Cook said Absolutely nothing has been done and I consider it a useless waste of time to place any more matters for consideration before this jury Upon this statement Judge Mack adjourned ad-journed the jury until February District Attorney Virgin moved for the appointment by the court of a new grand jury stating that the evidence produced before the present body made i the identity of the lynchers certain and I I positive and he could see no reason for I failure to return indictments Judge Mack is noncommittal but it is generally supposed that he will grant the motion made by Virgin and impanel I im-panel a new jury I = e |
