Show c A DANGEROUS BlfGAR ENTOKCES HIS DEMANDS WIT A REVOLVER Unpleasant Experience of M Kin caid Wallace Seaton the Bold Tramp Is Lodged In the City Jail Mr Wallace Seaton is a hayloft artist ar-tist and a dusty road walker He Is also a beggar buthe lacks all the humility hu-mility which is supposed to pertain to people of that ilk Mr Seaton is from Colorado and the methods he used on Saturday in soliciting alms would indicate in-dicate that his former habitation was a palace and that he was sole possessor posses-sor of a Colorado bonanza On Saturday he paid Mr H F Kin caid of 10 First street the distinguished honor of a personal visit He flashed a long epistle In which the story of his woes was told eloquently and when his request was gently and mildly refused he flashed a gun The testimonial I testi-monial was typewritten and set forth the claim that he had just recovered from the typhoid fever in a Golden Colorado hospital and that he was attempting to reach relatives in Elko Nev in order that he could enter the state asylum anp acquire an education educa-tion The testimonial also indicates that he was a good boy and a deserving I deserv-ing boy and that any selfrespecting citizen ought to help him The effusion contained the autograph of Dr J A Hemlein who subscribed 5 to the cause and the president of the Blue Church whose signature was on the paper for L Mr Kincaid impressed the beggar with the idea that he did not wish tore to-re d the story of his life that he did not wish to indulge in promiscuous charity to beggars and that he did not wish to enjoy his ragged society When the beggar was persistent Mr Kin caid emphasized his lack of appreciation apprecia-tion of Seatons presence at his domicile dom-icile by Indicating where the gate was and murmuring something about calling call-ing for the police Thereupon the alms seeker tore a large piece of artillery from his inside pocket and brandished it in the air ferociously Several visitors visit-ors were at Mr Kincaids residence and apparently the wrathful beggar began to think the odds were against him for he began to retreat towards the gate still with the fierce looking gun bearing down upon Kincaid When he reached the sidewalk his bravado suddenly collapsed and he started running along the road so swiftly that several sCorchers who were passing that way broke their wheels in an attempt at-tempt to keep up with him The sleuths had some difficulty in finding the overpoweringly dignified and haughty beggar but a stray patrolman I pa-trolman met him yesterday afternoon and gathered him into a cell at the I city jail Seaton became during his illness a deaf mute resulting from fatigued fa-tigued vocal organs and the sound of his own voice He will be tried for his concealed weapon play this morning |
