pickled scented or otherwise of all descriptions when descrpton prepared for use a tax of 8 cents per pound And snuft flour when sold or removed for snuf consumption shall be taxed a snuff and shall b put up in packages and stamped In the same S2e manner as snuff On l chewing and smoking tobacco Hue cut cavendish plug or twist cut or granulated of every description on to I bacco twisted by hand or reduced Into a I condition to be consumed or in any manner man-ner other than the ordinary mode of I drying and curing preuared for sale or I consumption ever i prepared without the use of any machine or instrument and without being pressed or sweetened and on all line cut shorts sweetene scraps clippings cuttings and sweetings of tobacco a tax of S cents per sweetngs Seton C391 of the revised if unstemmed loO per pound filler tobacco not spec tally provided for In this Lnof nn I stemmed 35 cents per pound if stemmed I 5 cents per pound A paragraph Is inserted defining to bacco terms as follows The term wrap per tobacco as used in this act means that quality of leaf tobacco which Is suitable suit-able for cigar wrappers and the term filler means all other leaf tobacco Col lectors of customs shall not permit entry to be made except under regulations to be prescribed by the secretary of the treasury of any leaf tobacco unless the Invoices of the same shall specify in de toil the character of such tobacco whether whe-ther wrapper or filler its origin and qual ity In the examination for classifications of any imported leaf tobacco at least one bale box or package in every ton and at least one in every invoice shall be ex amned by the appraiser or aned appriser person authorized au-thorized by law to make such examination tionOther Other changes in the tobacco schedule arc wire is i stricken out as out The duty of 1 cent per pound ns fixed by the house on lead ore was increased to 1l4 cents and a provision added that the value should Be estimated at the port of entry Ap pIes peaches and father edible fruits when dried are reduced from 2 cents to 1 cent per pound and berries are stricken from tho dutiable lst The paragraph in regard re-gard to preserved fruits sweet meats etc Is changed so as to provide for an additional duty of 5 per gallon on the alcohol contained In such preserves in excess ex-cess of 5 per cent Jellies are made dutiable able at 3 per cent ad valorem and pine aeries preserved in theis own juice at 25 preerve I > er cent ad valorem The duty on figs i plums prunes raisins and other dried i grapes Is reduced from 2Vi cents per pound j to 2 cents and on olives in bottles or I jars from 2 to 2 cents per gallon I Grains are made dutiable 2 cents per I cubic foot Instead of 1 cent per aound OrAnces and lemons and other oltrous fruits
