Show THERE WILT BE A LIVELY TIME Meeting of the Supreme Council of the A PA SECRECY IS ATTEMPTED BLACKLISTING OF MKINLEY IS T BE REVIEWED WASHINGTON May 11About fifty delegates to the supreme council of the American Protective association are in the city for the convention which begins tomorrow and which on account of the troublesome question I to be dealt with will probably be in session for several days The most profound secrecy is attempted to be I observed by all of the delegates so that i i most difficult to secure Information concerning the factional differences I which are brewing Members do not conceal the fact that there will be a warm debate over the recent action of I the executive committee in placing McKinley on the presidential blacklist presiental blacklst I This step is to be reviewed and the executive committee will be required I by the friends of McKinley in the order chief among whom are the Ohio I and Kentucky delegates to present the proof on which the charges against McKinley were based There is a well defined rumor that western free silver delegates who declare de-clare their intention to secure a free silver plank for the A P A platform I will also endeavor to force the A P A into a political alliance with the Popu I list party Supreme President H J Traynor I I today declared that if the old parties refuse to recognize the principles of the I A P A a call will be issued for a I national convention to organize a new party which Mr Traynor said will be I joined by citizens who are tired of ring ruipA A meeting of the full advisory board will be held tomorrow night when the action of the executive committee of that board on McKinleys candidacy i will be considered and it is thought I will be approved The fight will come m the council meetings Meetings were held today by the judiciary and executive committees I executve commitees the latter for the purpose of reviewing the treasurers accounts I Most of the delegates here are from the southern and western states Some of the men prominent in the order are I H F Bowess of Iowa founder of the A P A J W Eckels of Georgia H J Swain of California Judge J H Jackson of Texas Judge H D Stevens of Chicago Colonel E H Sellers De troit vicepresidents Iowa John T Gibson West Virginia Charles Tucker Ohio 11 A P Wisley Missouri C G Simmons Wisconsin W W Lannings Ohio E T Taylor Washington G W Van Fossen and New York H B naham |
