Show GENIAL BUNNFR DEAD Editor of Puck Dies at His Home From Consumption NEW YORK May 11 Henry Cuyler Bunner editor of Puck died this afternoon af-ternoon at his residence in Nutley N J from tubercular consumption Mrs Bun nor and children were at his bedside when death came Mr Bunner was born in Oswcgo Non Y N-on August 3 1S55 He was educated r French school New York City His st venture in life was a an employe 01 a Portuguese business firm In this city but the work was not congenial and he soon became connected with the New York papers and for some years worked B a reporter In 1S77 Schwarzman X ppler issued the first edition of Puck I was then a German publication Before Be-fore long the German edition tor lont editon was supplemented sup-plemented with a English edition and r Mr Bunner was made the assistant editor edi-tor and later was placed in charge as editor Under his editorship and with the illustrations lustrations of Keppler the publication attained at-tained a wide circulation and the property pro-perty became very valuable In addition to his work on Puck Mr Bunner asa as-a frKjueat contributor to the leading magazines hind was the author of a number num-ber of works The most notable of these I were A Woman of Honor published in 1SS3 Airs from Arcadia and Ese I wheie poetns 1SS1 The Midget in 1RSC he Story of A New York House In 1SS7 and In Parties Ship a collection collec-tion of stories in 1SS4 In the later production pro-duction he colabored with Brander Matthews Mr Bunner had been sick for a longtime long-time Last winter he was sent to the I Pacific coast The trip did him little or no good and a few weeks ago he returned re-turned to hl3 Nutley home Since then Mrs Bunner ha been almost constantly at his Ixdside The deceased leaves throe I children The oldest is nine years old the youngest an infant te ounge I |
