of Planting I I Observer J H Smith of the weather lureau has issued his bulletin for the I week ending April 16 The part under the head of remarks of correspondents will be read at this season of the year with unusual interest Tile Weather The temperature during the past week has averaged about the normal and the sunshine has been abundant rhe cold northerly winds which prevailed pre-vailed during the latter part of the week had a retarding effect upon the i I growth of vegetation and the germination germina-tion of seeds The rainfall on the 14th 1 which was chiefly confined to the northern half of the territory was of great benefit to the growing crops pastures and meadows Frost was r quite general on the 15th and 16th but being light no serious damage was done to the fruit trees Upon the whole tve weather during t the week has been unusually favorable for farm work I Crop Outlook The very fine weather enabled farmers farm-ers t < J make great progress with their work of putting in crops during the week Except in the extreme northern I counties the spring seeding is about finished and in several localities the spring wheat and early vegetables are I snowing above the ground Sugar beets are nearly all planted and some are well up Gardening and preparations I prepara-tions for planting corn and potatoes are being pushed with vigor All correspondents i cor-respondents report that the winter i wheat looks fine Apricots peaches and plums are in bloom and the currant I cur-rant and gooseberry bushes have commenced com-menced to leaf Remark of Correspondent Summit
