in possession of the officers made The constitution was adopted as follows fol-lows lowsThis association shall be known as the Womans Exchange of Salt Lake cityThe object ofthis association shall be to aid women by helping them to I help themselves and in furtherance of this design to maintain a depot for the reception and sale of womans I recepton work or of articles in her possession of which she may wish to dispose subject I sub-ject to the approval of an examining committee The affairs of this association shall I be controlled by a board of managers controled and by thirty in number from which whom shall oe elected annually a president one vicepresident a recording I record-ing secretary a corresponding secretary secre-tary a treasurer two auditors and three directors I These officers shall constitute the executive board live < whom shall constitute a quorum empowered to transact all necessary business Vacancies occurring in the board o I managers shall be fled by a majority I vote of said board I shall be the duty of the president I to preside over all meetings appoint committees call special meetings and exercise a general supervision over the affairs of the exchange I shall be the duty O the vice president to fill the place and assume the duties of the president In her absence ab-sence senceI shall be the duty of the recording secretary to be present at all meetings of the board of managers and executive execu-tive committee and to keep a full and accurate record of all proceedings I shall be the duty of the corresponding corres-ponding secretary to notify the managers man-agers and officers of their election and of special meetings of the board and to conduct all correspondence of the exchange The treasurer shall recelye and hold the funds of the association and pay all monthly bills after they are approved ap-proved by an auditor The duties of the auditors shall be to inspect all monthly bills and if correct cor-rect approve them to examine and audit the books of the cashier and treasurer and of the lunch room receipts rom ceipts to send monthly all bills to the treasurer for payment and present a monthly and annual report to the board and association The association shall be composed of men and women who shall subscribe I I 52 a year payable in advance I The following standing committees i I I shall have their chairmen appointed by of managers Mrs Fox then reported the number of vacant rooms available for the use of the exchange and gave the amount of red required for each The report was accepted and the selection of a location was referred to a committee composed of Mrs Fox Mrs Roberts Mrs Mackintosh Mrs Wallace and Mrs Bache The following bylaws or rules as the Jades preferred to call them were then adorned The exchange shall be opened at 9 > a m and closed at 6 p m Lunch will be served from 1130 a m to 2 p m Work may be entered upon a mem bership ticket or by the payment of 1 per annum by consignor Each consignor receives a receipt I and a number representing her work on the books of the exchange which boks echangC number num-ber she must add to her name In business I busi-ness correspondence I Goods will not be accepted unless accompanied by an itemized list of the articles written on one side of the I paper only with maximum and mini I I mum selling price consignors permit number name address and date of I shipment Consignors must keep a duplicate list of the same I consignors I change their place of residence they must notify the exchange at once To each article of fancy work must be attached by the consignor a loop tag upon which shall be placed in Ink her number and the price of the article ar-ticle The minimum selling price must be put In the Itemized list ot goods and not upon he article Goods must be sent free of expense to the exchange and at the risk of the owner and are received subject to the approval of the different committees A commission of 10 per cent is charged dn all sales and order work I The association does not hold Itself responsible for losses having taken all I reasonable precautions against fire and theft In the cake and preserve department depart-ment there is a standard and none can enter cake and preserves without first sending samples of their work Pickles Pick-les preserves and jellies are sampled ever year Perishable edibles must be left at consignors 11sk Those not in good condition when received will be returned re-turned at owners expense Persons leaving orders for articles to be made wH be required to deposit 20 per cent of their value Ordered articles not called for within thirty days afe their completion and notification noti-fication of the same having been sent the Stf per cent shall 330 forfeited to the exchange Consignors to the domestic depart r Jj naust deliver l goods before Id a m No consignor may nter anything any-thing without first submitting samples for Inspection Consignors to the domestic department depart-ment will be paid money due them at the exchange rooms from 10 to 12 Fancy goods consignors will be paid en Fridays from 10 to 12 Consignors must present their receipts ceipts before the payment of any dues or return of any goods No person will be allowed to collect col-lect money or receive goods for any I consignor without a written order consigo wihout from such consignor Two persons 1 I may not use the same permit In tIe I positing goods at the exchange All holiday goods should be on deposit at the exchange by Dec 1In order to guarantee their marking and display before Christmas Goods cannot can-not be received after Dec 15 Goods cannot be returned without three days notice nor any time in December Consignors wishing goods reduced for the December sales must notify In November Goods will not be placed on sale on any account until they have been properly examined and marked by a secret committee Therefore they cannot can-not be taken from the boxes and sold Days upon which chairmen of departments depart-ments will be present at the exchange can be ascertained upon inquiry All business letters should be addressed ad-dressed to the Womans Exchange of Salt Lake City and a stamp enclosed for reply The exchange is practically an outgrowth out-growth of the Associated Charities or the womans department of the same and the amount 250 in the hands of that committee will servo as the nucleus nu-cleus of a fund Membership subscriptions subscrip-tions will also be solicited n The next meeting will be held at the same place at 1030 a m on Wednesday Wednes-day the 24th inst |
