Show t r MEN WHO GET JOBS F But Few of the Fortunate Ones Have r Reached the City But seven out of the seventeen offices f awarded to the country members have r been thus far filled Utah county seems unable to decide on the best men t to fill the four positions allotted to Utah It was announced last evening that J R Jenkins of Goshen would be one of the lucky men Rich county has named R W Whit tington for the position of watchman O in the house Emery county nominates exSheriff Tuttle for sergeantatarms in the house Mr Tuttle is a longtime Democrat Dem-ocrat and he distinguished himself in the raid upon the Robbers Roost gang last year and was severely injured in the encounter Mr Tuttle was a can didate for renomination but was passed by at the county convention and although urged to run indepen I dently resolved to stand by his partys nominee His selection for the position of sergeantatarms is his reward Hyrum Cummings of Heber will rep resent Wasatch county as chaplain of the house Reuben Nebeker of Box El der county is chosen as watchman of the senate from the First senatorial district Frank Jardine of Tooele sergeant ser-geant of the Utah troop Torreys rough riders occupied that position two years ago and was prominently mentioned for it again this year r Uintah county received in the allotment t allot-ment the position of committee clerk in the senate Charles Augustin of Vernal is the choice of the Democrats of that district and he is already in the city Mr Augustin does not wish to attempt the labors of a committee clerkship and a trade will be effected with Utah county if possible to give I Sir Augustin the position of messenger messen-ger and one of the Utah county applicants appli-cants the clerkship = Of the two offices awarded to the Eleventh senatorial district compris f ing Iron Beaver Kane and Washing i ton counties W G Talton of Beaver i was made minute clerk of the senate and either Mayhew Dalley of Cedar t City or J S Snow of St George will be chosen committee clerk of the t house The members of the delegation f nave not yet settled upon their candi dateWayne Wayne county was not awarded any office and some dissatisfaction was felt by the southern members for that reason rea-son George Crosby of Loa who ran t a bright little paper called the Loa Ad iYice during the last can1paign Is now in the city and he hoped to obtain some position in the legislature There I was some talk last evening of giving Mr Crosby the position of messenger in the senate which was awarded to I Sevier county and this may possibly be done today 3 Tr Bichards Not Coming < C C Richards will not be home this week Nor will he probably for several weeks to come The most recent news from Mr Richards who is now at Los Angeles is to the effect that he is improving im-proving in health His physician however how-ever has advised him to reamin there several weeks before venturing back to the higher altitude of Utah Mr Richards health was very precariou1 rtor a timeand his friends will be glad to learn that its final restoration has now begun Republican Caucus t The Republicans will caucus this piornlng on organization at the county building Itis probable that a full set ci officers will be put up with the pos I r I sible exception of a candidate for presidency of the senate Of course the Republicans do not expect to receive re-ceive any favors from the Democratic majority but as one of them expressed it We are here and we propose to let the other fellows know it As a matter mat-ter of course we are all believers in the old Jacksonian principle To the victors belong the spoils so we will be turned down without doubt But that wont hurt our pride a particle and I same well stick by our principles just the |
