Show THIS interesting item appears in the Electrical World of New York The Bell Telephone Company has declared a regular quarterly dividend of 3 per cent and an extra one of C per cent both payable July 15 to stockholders of record June 30 The transfer books will be closed from July 1 to 15 both days inclusive It requires nearly 1350000 to pay this dividend and presupposes enormous earnings for the year yearWo We say this is interesting It is decidedly so especially to every person vho rents a telephone and every month pays more than the total cost of tho instrument It is not to be wondered at that the company can pay 9 per cent a quarter on a capital stock which represents some investigators assert as-sert four times as much as the cost of the plant including the money which was paid for patents or in other words three parts water and ono part actual value Fortunately Fortu-nately the telephone patents will expire in a little more than a year when this business busi-ness of holding the public up by tho throat while the great American Bell monopoly performs the robber act will cease I |
