Show DAYIS COUNTY NEWS The Feast of Reason and the Flow of Soul A BANQUET AT FABMINGTON Not a Republican Stronekold Social and Other Interesting Comment Com-ment By far the most brilliant social event that has taken place in Davis county for along a-long time was the grand ball and banquet given under the auspices ot the county teachers at Farmington last evening About fifty couples were present some from nearly every town in the county All last week the teachers were together in their summer institute delving into the problematical intricacies of science and the entertainment last evening was a suitable suit-able finale of the seasons labors The programme for the evening was opened by an able and eloquent address of welcome by Mr George Palmer which was followed by a speech from Mr L E Abbott outlining the future of the county teachers The company then turned their attention to the sumptuous table and the next half hour was spent in sampling the toothsome delicacies spread before them At the close of the banquet the guests repaired re-paired to the social hall and participated in a grand balL With the splendid music furnished fur-nished by Beesleys quadrille band the charming array of pretty girlsand the ox collent condition of the floor nothing was missing to complete the enjoyment of the company The ball continued far into the morning when refreshments were served and the guests departed This is the first of a series of like entertainments enter-tainments which will probably be given by the teachers in the future The whole affair af-fair was an unbounded success and those who were fortunate enough to be present will unanimously vote too evening well spent The teachers never do anything by halves ItEFOBLICAX MEETING The first Republican meeting that has been held in Davis county came together at Layton on Friday evening last Mr Frank Cannon of Ogden was the orator of the evening He made a long harangue on the beauties of the g a p but the fact that we bear nothing of Republican club being organized or-ganized shows that his remarks had but little effect on the thinking people of our neighboring village OTHER NOTES Misses Aggie and Julia Jones of Salt Lake are visiting in Kaysville Mr John Beatic Jr was in town rustling trade for Kirkendal Jones Co yesterday The various committee on the Fourth of July celebration are working hard to make the event a complete success Miss Annie Wade entertained a number of young people at a plejsunt birthday party at her home last evening M KATSVILLE June 231S91 |
