Show 1A A HEAVY WASHOUT c Floods Play Havoc on the Bio Glen c Western Six Bridges Torn Down and the Track WasbedtAway In Nino Places Delayed Trains Last night rumors were flying around tho hotels that express No3 on the Rio Grande Western was very late and at last the news come that the train would be abandoned the night No cause was reported and it could not be understood for a time what was the matter At last however THE HERALD man started to hunt the thing down A telephone message mes-sage to the dispatchers office brought iorth no further bformation than that tho train had been taken off As usual most lamentable ignorance of the cause of the matter was displayed and most persistentquestioning brought forth no satisfaction The reporter then rang up the house of Superintendent Welby and received the discouraging news that he had gone to Denver on business As a forlorn hope the house Assistant Superintendent Su-perintendent Snyder was then rung up Again discouragement was met with for the only information that could be given was the statement that Mr Snyder had gone down the road At last however success rewarded the efforls of the reporter as he ran onto one who knew all about the matter in the corridor of the Walker House The information gained shows that down on the desert near a small station called Crevasse the track has been washed away l > y floods in nine places and six bridges have been torn down the injury extending extend-ing for six miles along the track Express Ex-press No 2 is held this side of the injury and No 3 is at Grand Junction while the many other trains that were moving on the road are being held at convenient places Yesterday upon hearing of the damage Assistant Superintendent Snyder went down the road on a special accompanied by competent com-petent assistants and a great force of men will immediately be put to work at repairing re-pairing the damage Full repairs cannot be made for some time yet but it is thought that the passengers can be transferred trans-ferred and will be able to continue their trips tomorrow |
