Show THE JJKLLG VTIIa SILVKU SPEECH With great pleasure we publish today the fell test of the great silver speech delivered by our Delegate in Congress Hon J L RAWMXS in the House of I Representatives August 12th It is an I address far above the ordinary deliver ances on the subject treated of It is out of the common vein It shows a thorough acquaintance with the matter I meets tsany objections and explodes many of the fallacies entertained by the Eoldites It presents the main issue from a national standpoint and not on the ground of local requirements or the narrow outlook of sectional interests inter-ests And yet the claims of the silver industry are not lost sight of nor are the welfare and prosperity of his p constituents ignored The style is lofty and the language choice It is a fine effort ef-fort And even our Republican friends who have been neither generous nor just o the Delegate cannot fail to perceive if they do not acknowledge the force of his argument and the excellence of the manner man-ner of its presentation If the intention expressed at the time of its deliverance by the members who were charmed with his oratory and enlightened by the brightness bright-ness of his ideas to publish it in I pamphlet form shall be carried into effect we are sure that it will do much in aid I of that silver education which is so necessary in the East We congratulate our Delegate on his success and his constituents con-stituents on having eo able an advocate of the silver cause in the Congress of the United States |
