Show SCANDINAVIAN DEMOCRATS Tho Concert and Bal Given by Them i Last Night The Scandinavian Democratic society and drum corps gave concert and ball in Chits hal last evening About 400 were present and a most enjoyable evening was spent The first part of the evening was devoted to the concert Miss Emma Jorgensen Jor-gensen sang the solo Youll Remember Me for which she received an encore and a lovely bouquet The Misses Hal I vorsen Mrs John Halvorsen and Mr i John Sax gave a quartette which was greatly appreciated Mr Will Svinger sang After the Ball which was encored and a violin duet by Professor Ole Bjokhoel and S Lund brought down the house A number of valuable prizes were given Mr F S Ertman took first prize for the best sustained lady character Mr John A Sax second prize and N Guldbrand son third Mrs Admunson was awarded a prize for the best sustained gentleman character Prizes were given for the best dancers the judges were Messrs Anderson Ander-son Meilstrup A H Steele Miss Peterson Peter-son and Miss Hanson The first prize for the gentlemen was awarded to Captain Lund the second to John Sax and the third to L Lewiston Of the ladies Miss Amanda Isaacson won the first prize Miss Jennie Peterson second and Miss Anna Swensonthird MrsHagen took a prize for the best lady waltzer over 50 years of age and Mr Charles Person for the best gentleman waltzer over 60 Editor Anderson of Bikuben was awarded first prize for having the largest family and Brigham Petersen the second A valuable prize was awarded to Miss Kate Burt the handsomest lady in the room the judges this case being Messrs Fovoberg Olson and Hughes The dancing was kept up to an early hour this morning The music furnished under the direction of Professor Ole Bjorkhoel was excellent and loudly praised on all hands The president of the society was un avoidaoly absent owing to the fact that ho was iu charge of the jury in the ONeill case which failed return a verdict ver-dict night last night and was locked up all L |
