The commencement exercises of Rowland Hall wore held at St Marks cathedral yesterday at 11 oclock and were of an exceedingly ex-ceedingly interesting character The cathedral ca-thedral was filled to overflowing Including Includ-ing friends and relatives of the pupils Tho church was handsomely and elaborately elabo-rately decorated with flowers and was the work of tho devoted hearts and busy hands of the Misses Hayden and Sholes The altar was in white with green decorations deco-rations the head of each pew being garlanded gar-landed with the loveliest of flowers and the organ wreathed with them making a beautiful picture The young ladies about seventyfive in number robed in the purest white were present to witness the awarding of medals and diplomas to their comoanions of the past year Misses Carrie Williams Helen I Kneass Ethel Lynn and Georgie McKim mins were the graduates They had I chosen red for their class color red by < 1 i strange coincidence being the churchB color for that day Miss Lucille Jennings received a diploma for her efficiency in music She leaves soon for Europe where she Intends to complete I com-plete the training of her voice which is an I exceptionally good one of pure soprano I timber and wide compass The bishops medal to the head scholar I of tho senior class was for excellence in i penmanship and was awarded to Miss Ethel Lynn and in the preparatory department I depart-ment the Misses Eva Tompkms and Irma I Alff were the successful competitors I Miss Hayden also offered prlzess for thebes the-bes penmanship and it was given to Lucille Lu-cille Taylor Florence Grant Harriet Cohn and Sam Shiley A gold medal offered by Miss Hayden for excellent deportment waa awarded to tho Misses Gertrude Dunne Cora Mears and Miss Max McCartney The prize to the head scholar for tho year among the smallest children wile given to Walter Gentsch There wero 175 pUpilS in the school this year and it is in a most flourishing condition condi-tion and is ably
