Show COMMITTEE ON CREDENTIALS They Are Evidently Playing a Waiting Game MINNEAPOLIS Juno SThe committee on credentials are proceeding slowly and are evidently not intending to make a report re-port until an opportunity is afforded to judge of the importance which their recommendations recom-mendations may have in the determination of the result of the convention if the contests con-tests are disposed of by this committee The Blaine delegates will be seated in every instance There is a possibility that the committee on credentials may not be ready to report by tomorrow and if this should be the case there is IKETTT SURE TO BE A now t in the convention when the chairman submits sub-mits a request for further delay Tho Harrison leaders are much irritated over the Blaine pone of delay and appear determined to force a ballot as soon as possible pos-sible It was stated tonight that when the committee on credentials makes a partial report tomorrow as it probably will they will move adjourn for an hour or two with instructions to thn committee to windup wind-up their business ane report at that time Tills may afford an opportunity for the FIRST DIRECT TEST between the two factions The Harrison people claim to have gained a delegate or two today in Oregon and say they won back a couple of Texas delegates who Yesterday went over to Blame The Blame managers claim gains in Kansas Illinois and Rhode Island besides be-sides several other states which they failed to mention Leaders of the Blaine faction tonight are contemplating a movement which is cry bold and if carried will be a farewell greeting to the shortlived harmony har-mony and good feeling of the past twenty four bouts whatever effect it may be in controlling the nomination THE scnniiE They have agents selecting from the list delegates and alternates of those who are officers under the Harrison administration They expect to compile the list and add thereto the names of the administration I office holders on the ground as helpers to effect the nomination of tho president and who are not delegates to the convention conven-tion The list will be given out as an indication indica-tion of the pernicious example being set by Harrison and of the effort of the administration ad-ministration to perpetuate itself In power The Blame managers also insist that ex Senator In alls has been promised the Russian commission recently vacated The Blaine people state this evening that t It is not yet decided that their candidate will be presented to the convention at all It may be found advisable to vote for Jim without the formality of a nomination nomina-tion ExGovernor Porakor of Ohio will certainly make the leading speech and George A Knight of California has been I selected to second the nomination of Blaine TO PRESENT THE CANDIDATES Foraker when asked this afternoon if t his speech would be a long one and if he had yet prepared it he replied I never prepared a speech in my life I INTEND TO WHOOP IT DP WITHOUT MANUSCRIPT MANU-SCRIPT for about five or ten minutesthats my 4 Idea of business Harrison will be placed in nomination by the venerablo oxSecretary of the Navy Richard W Thompson of Indiana and the nomination will be seconded by Hon Chauncey M Depew of New York Other nominaUng speeches will probably be I maaoby exbonator Spooner of Wiscou bsi Hon John D Massoy of Delaware F Hon Lewis C McComas of Maryland and possibly by exSenator John J Ingalls and t others Col Henry M DuOleld leader of 2 tho Alger forces claims his candidate has r Beventyfivo votes assured on the first ballot bal-lot und a certainty of fifteen mora on the second Upon reassembling after adjournment the Alabama contest was again taken up but loft for a time and the Fifth Kentucky taken up Matthews and Wlnsteli being f seated Matthews is usually classed as a Blaine man but it is not positively known j It was decided unanimously to seat the delegates from tho Ninth district of Louisiana Lou-isiana no contest being made on the one t Harrison delegate |
