as published below To the Stockholders of the Anchor Mining Com pony GENTLEMEN herewith respectfully submit sub-mit my report superintendent acting manager for the year ending Oct 11S93 The work done in the mine consists of sinking the shaft 4x12 1112 feet clear insIde in-side Df timbers a distance of SCO feet There has been run 3533 feet of Inclines raises winzes and chutes also 1127 feet of levels and drifts There has been 12630 cubic yards of sloping done during the year which with the largo station cut at the shaft on tunnel level containing 364 cubic yards of eloping and excavation The sinking of the shaft was attended with considerable delay owing tothe large amount of surface water coming in during the spring and early summer This also caused us to do a great deal of bulkhcadlng ana extra timbering in the slopes Lrom the main tunnel near tho shaft I have run drifts from light to left connecting connect-ing with the crosscut a short distance from the shaft This permits of running trains from stopes to mouth of tunnel direct without switching or breaking the trains at the junction of the crosscut and main tunnel It also takes all the water of the mine at this level convening it into main tunnel without passing near the shaft The pre stopes have produced eighty ODe tons or firstclass and S7JJ3 tons ofconcentrating ore producing produc-ing 1J OlS tons of statement of receipts and disbursements herewith A pipe line composed of G inch 5 inch and 4 men pipe has been laid from the lake known cs Deep lake situated on the com panys property connected with the company com-pany s water tank at the White Pine shaft 1ho cost of the line completed is 4455 The supply of water is in excess of amount required for all uses of the company I The ore stopes still show a considerable tmount of ore of the usual grade but atr times is considerably mixed with waste Wo recently struck in the shaft incline a body of ore of a much better grade than any before fonnd in the min Have taken from this body eightyone tons up to Oct 1 L The extent of this ore has so far not been determined Am still going down on the vein with this incline and doubtless further explorations will confirm my opln ion that the ore bodies of the anchor ho below the tunnel level The small engine which was doing tho hoisting in the shaft incline being too small to do the hoisting at a great depth I purchased of the W oodsideMining company a 5fd2 double geared engine at a cost df c772 This engine is now doing all work required and has sufficient power for a good distance further The ore for the past year has been sold under contract the terms of which are 00 per cent of the lead 95 per cent of the silver at New York prices on day of sale 18 per ounce for tho gold Working charges 2450 per ton and a deduction of 50 cents par unit for zinc above a basis of S per cent Although this is considered a favorable contract the low price of silver together with the high percentage of zinc have combined to keep tho price realized very low averaging 2325 per ton for concentrates con-centrates The concentrating expenses are all of the expenses of the mill including all repairs and quite number of needed improvements It also includes tho entire expense of the assay office The larger portion of tho asssvors time being in the testing of mill samples The concentrator has run steadily and is doing good work On the 25th of April last laid off tho night shift since which time the mill has run daytime only concentrating con-centrating an average of 93 tons per day We have in storage at the mine about 225 tons of Castle Gate coal and shall add to this about 200 tons more This is the only quality of coal that will permit of storing for any length of time wlGout n loss by slacking Tne Rand compressor has been moved from the intermediate to the main hoisting works This change dispenses with the serviceu of threa men which were employed em-ployed to run machinery at the intermediate inter-mediate shaft Everything on the surface about the works is in good condition for the coming winter I would respectfully recommend that tho inking of the shaft below the tunnel level be continued until it shall intercept the formation that we now have at face of the shaft Incline This will permit of working the vein by overhead instead of underhand stoping rs we arc at present obliged to work It will also permit of hoisting to surface or tunnel level by the main shaft making a great reduction uction in cost over our present mode of working Very respectfully yours Politics horeis in a rather mixed state < Park City has always been deemed the Liberal stroneholdx the paitz and but little lit-tle effort was heretoforo made to put either Democratic or Republican ticket in the field During the present campaign the people have awakened from their apathy and it is not an unusual occurrence to hear Republicanism Democracy and Liberalism discussed on the streets of Utahs greatest camp Thus far the Democraes have made the greatest headway and are making great inroads in-roads in the Liberal faction They have opened headquarters over the postofface I where they wilt be pleased to receive their Democratic friends and dispense Democratic I Demo-cratic literature The work of the campaign cam-paign has been placed in tho bands of an able and experienced person who was until recently one of the foremost loaders of the Liberal party and under his management man-agement it is expected that large Democratic Demo-cratic vote will be polled here it is difficult diffi-cult at present predict what the result will be for the county ticket but if indications indi-cations go for anything it looks as It the Democrats will elect one or more of their candidates Tho Liberals are in a demoralized demor-alized condition and the dibsatisluction of the rank and tile at the manner in which the cauous and convention were manipulated manipu-lated has caused many to leave that party and the number of scratched tickets on j election day will be something immense The unknown factor at present is the Republican Re-publican party If they can poll 150 or 200 votes the success of the whole Democratic ticket is assured and the horoscope at present points that way ORE AND BULLION SHIPMEJiTS The Daly Mining company shipped from the Mavsao mill this week fifteen bars of
