Show A FATAL SNOWSHDE B Y Hampton Jr and Charles Spear are Buried Beneath One Near Their Mine i Idaho Heavy Snows Throughout the StateFloods Around Pittsbnrsr KETCHUM Idaho Feb 16Special telegram tele-gram to THE RIIDA snowsllde occurred oc-curred at Boulder a mining camp about twenty miles from this place instantly kill ing Brig Y Hampton jr superintendent and Charley Spears foreman of the Trapper Trap-per group of mines at that place last Fri day jevening From information acquired it appears that the miners employed at tho mines before be-fore quitting work for the day had fired off some blasts and the unfortunate men had waited behind to see the effects of the blasts and going from the mine to the cabin a distance of about nine hundred feet wer caught by the fearful avalanche Mr Hamptons body was found under six feet of snow and Spears about four When brought to the surface by the faithful miners min-ers life was extinct Mr Hampton had only lately acquired this property for himself I him-self and a company of owners and was at tne time energetically prosecuting the work He is D son of B Y Hampton of Salt Lake He leaves a wife and six chil dren to mourn his untimely loss He was universally respected in this the town of his adopted home He was a general favorite favor-ite with all with whom he associated and this terrible calamity has cast a gloom over the whole community Mr Hampton was only about thirtytwo years of age Charles Spears tie other victim of the sad accident was unmarried and a pioneer of Ket hum a thorough mechanic by profession pro-fession and many old timers and acquaintances acquaint-ances of Charles will miss his openhearted and genial countenance A severe snowstorm has been raging in central Idaho for the last four days |
