A Fire in the New York Postoflice NEW YORK Feb 14While the clerks on the Mail street side of the postofUco were receiving steamer mail tonight the electric lights went out and smoke puffed up from below The alarm was turned in and while the firemen were working on it the clerks were drag ing mal out to a place of safety The fire was extinguished I after perhaps 525000 vorth of damage Mr I Dupt says no letters were burned and the newspapers were only injured by water Two Italian doys who had crawled down in the elevator shah to sleep over the boiler room were badly burned and one will die Two firemen were overcome by smoke but afterwards recovered Tho fire is thought to have been caused by electric elec-tric light wires
