Show AGAINST THE COLLEGE The Central Pacific Sues the B Y College for 500000 The Logan Journal of a late date has the following concerning the suit brought by the Central Pacific against the trustees of the Brigham Young college Suit has been brought by the Central Pacific railroad company against Jacob Miller and Brigham Young William B Preston M D Hammond Ham-mond Moses Thatcher C O Card George Yo Thatcher and Ida lone Cook trustees for all the lands in the college farm which but for prior occupancy would have fallen to the Central Pacific The complaint sets up that the lands were fraudulently secured and claims that 4SS2 acres were so obtained ob-tained The value of these lands is placed it about five hundred thousand dollarsor over one hundred dollars per acre all of which is simply ridiculous Two suits are broughtone against tho parties as trustees tho other against them Individually The company has never claimed heretofore hereto-fore any interest except as to about two thousand five hundred acresand this suit simply means that it is striking blindly as well as openly in the hope that the greatest amount can be gotten in the event of a favorable fav-orable verdict The trustees have little anxiety as to the result of the suit It will cost something to make a defense but that is alL |
