Show A STABBING AFFRAY John Mack Makes a Savage Assault Upon Tim Sullivan The Wound not Dangerous Yesterday afternoon Tim Sullivan and John Mack of Eureka met on Main street and the latter demanded 1 which he claimed Sullivan owed him on a bet Sulli van at first declined to give him any money because he was drinking but Mack commenced com-menced to act ugly so he offered him the 1 but it was refused and the men parted Sullivan thought the quarrel was ended and was going into the Walker house shortly after ii oclock when Mack who was standing near by rushed at him with a knife in his hand and stabbed him in the back below the left shoulder blade and started to run up the street Marshal Young and Sam Haler who witnessed wit-nessed the assault but did not know that a knife had been used at once started ir pursuit and Hailer overtook his man in the Wasatch beer hall just east of the Cullen He placed him under arrest and took him to the city hal In the meantime Sullivans wound was dressed by Dr Pinkerton and it was found that the injury while painful is not at all serious serous It is said thatthe lynching of Fisher at Tintic a few years ago has something to do witn this affair but this is denied by friends of the parties Sullivan keeps a saloon at Eureka and is well known here Mack will be examined before Justice I Laney this morning |
