Show COURT PROCEEDINGS I Easiness Done in i the Police and Probate Courts TRIED OR STEALING A WATCH j I Number of Arrests Hade for Selling Intoxicating Honor nn jSniiclay t OtlierJIattcrs > On last Sunday afternoon a gentleman from Omaha named G H Mack visited Garfield Beach and left a valuable gold watch and over one Hundred dollars in cash at the office receiving his check While bathing the check wasstolen and the thief went up and claimed the property The case was reported to the city authorities all the police have3eeus actively engaged in the search for t theuiissjug goods and the guilty party It was learned jon Monday that there was a mysterious package at the residence of Mrs Free just west of the museum On making further investigations i investi-gations it was leSrned the package was in possession of 1 man giving his name as George W Young who had rooms in the house The Than had taken the package and disappeared with it leaving leav-ing his wife in the house MrstYoung was arrested and placed in the city jaI to await the action of the court When sho was arrested she telegraphed to Mr Sisson train dispatcher atLaramie and that gentleman come on He stated that he was well acquainted with Mrs Youngs family in the cat They are highly respectable and the lady herself has an excellent character She is 33 years of ego and was married Young but a short time ago When Mr Sisson herd that she wasMn trouble he came at her1 request but 1 did not learn what was the matter till ho got here Mr i Young turned over to Mr Mack SiO of the money she got from her husband and says she will endeavor Insecure In-secure for him the remainder of the property The case came up in the police court yesterday yes-terday afternoon Her story is that on Sunday night her husband came home in an angry mood and gave her the package ordering or-dering her to put it away as it belonged to a friend of his She wanted to put it in her trunk but he told her not to bite inquired what it was but he told her with an oath that she was too cUli us to find out At last she took it down stairs and gave it to the housekeeper as stated On Mondaj she got it again at her husbands request Ho was still angry and when he took the package he tore it open gave her U and left She says she had no idea where he was going that she has not seen him since and does not know whether or not he intends in-tends to desert her She says she never saw any thing in his conduit before to cause her to lose confidence in him but of late he has been very quarrelsome Further evidence shovvde that the mysterious myste-rious package was wrapped in a piece of paper when given to Mrs Young by her husband and she afterwards sewed piece of cloth around it She was of tho opinion at the time the package was taken that it contained valuables which her husband won at the gaming table The judge hed that the prisoner could not be convicted of larceny when it was only shown that she was in possession of the stolen goods and she was released rnrniEK HU > IXE S The additional business transacted in the police court was the arrest of J Y Smith polce conr Billy West Alex Gcmmil Josh Arthur Will Grey and David Hillstcad on the charges of selling intoxicants on Sunday The offenses for which the arrests were made date back to various periods in July Josh Arthur paid a fine of oO and was released the others will be tried oil differ cut dates during the week drunk Charles Kelley was fined T i for being |
