Show I CITY COUNCIL Continuation of the Minutes of Fridays Sitting The following did not arrive in time for publication in yesterdays issue Alderman Reeve reported that work to the value of 46745 had been put upon the streets during the last two weeks The committee felt that they were now in a position to work on Main Street having completed the work upon which they have for sometime some-time been engaged Report accepted Alderman Dee also reported that the surveyor submitted a profile of the Spring Street hill where work is now being done and he recommended that it be filed in the Recorders office Adopted CouncillorSmuin askedin behalf of the public grounds committee that as the committee only consisted of two members mem-bers further time be flowed them in which to investigate the petitions for j land referred to them at the last meeting meet-ing Granted Alderman Thomas D Dee was appointed 1 ap-pointed by the Mayor to assist the public pub-lic grounds committee in their investigations inves-tigations of the land proposed to be soldThe The mayor called the attention of the Council to the application of the Ogden Brass Band for assistance in the purchase pur-chase of a uniform The uniform would cost from SCO to 1000 Councilor Boyle supported the petition peti-tion of the band boys in a vigorous manner and moved tnat an appropriation appropria-tion of 500 be made to the band for the purchase of uniforms Tho motion did not receive a second hence fell through Alderman Dee thought the finance committee should bring in a recommendation recom-mendation in the matter that the I Council could act and he would support sup-port any reasonable recommendation that might be made The finance committee at this point recommended an appropriation of 300 Councilor Boyle did not think the appropriation ap-propriation sufficient and thought that 400 should bs definitely appropriated It was moved that the recommendation recommenda-tion be adopted and Councilor Boyle moved that the motion be amended to read 400 instead of 300 The motion was seconded and carried Chief Fireman Clark submitted a report re-port of the fire department for the year ending February 14 1888 The hose company consisted of twentythree good liv energetic men and the hook and ladder company of twentylour men all over 21 years of age The foreman of the hose company is Joseph rayne and Orson Riser is ttte foreman of the ladder company There bad been nine tires during the past year The total expenses had been 2200 which is just 22 cents per capita Accepted Ac-cepted MISCELLANEOUS Under this heading the proposed quarantine ordinance was introduced and a discussion ensued as to the I urgency of the bill in the light of the measure which is now pending before I the Territorial Legislature Finally it was decided to lay the bill on the table to be called up at some time in the future The usual bills were allowed and the Council adjourned |
