to t 0 tell f Our boys were outplayed and beaten f i fairly by the Red and Black war warrIors warnon non It should be noticed however 4 that most of the High sch scores 4 4 came after Ashton our biggest f f and strongest defense defene f 4 s man was obliged to leave the field t f owing to injuries 4 4 BY COACH CONVILL I 4 I have seen many man gam games of football foot football t 4 ball in my life lICe but none which fur tur furnished 4 f quite as much excitement as 4 4 our battle with the Granite High 4 4 4 f yesterday ye There Is la no get 4 f ting around the fact that Coach Coachi 4 Moss lads are fighters and they deserved deServed de 4 i served the touchdown which they 4 4 made in the first three minutes of 4 f 1 play I will say however that only 4 f during that time did th the Granite 4 i 4 team show itself to be on an equal 4 4 with the High school 4 H 4 t 4 t tt Pt t t 4 t t t t I tt t t t Salt Lake High school by defeating Granite yesterday afternoon on the Gran Granite GranIte Granito ite ito field by a score of 23 to 6 I practically cinched the Interscholastic high school championship of Utah for tor WOO 1006 Salt Lake earned the victory on merit meritA A large crowd of excited exalted rooters was present and constant cheering took from the moment the two teams teems entered upon the field The game was spectacular with wide spreads on side aide kicks forward passes passe and straight line plunges presenting plenty of ot action During the first few tew moments of play the Granite Granke lads outplayed the High school securing a touchdown In three minutes of play After that however the Red and Black eleven played superior ban ball On three separate occasions during the first half halt they rushed the pigskin to within striking striking ing lag distance of their opponents goal line only to meet with a stubborn defense defens preventing the th score and allowing their opponents to kick out of danger During the entire game Granite called repeated repeatedly ly for lor time out and was the tIle worse for condition Granite Kicks Off Granite won the toss and kicked to ta Worthman who advanced the ball to tin Red and Black line Una Goodsped hit the lint line for two yards and for 12 Worthman tried to circle the end but was thrown back for rot a loss Th High school then lost lo t the ball bail on a fum Zurn fumble fumble ble bie but recovered for a loss toss of five yards and punted was WIlS downed In U his tracks The Granite boys bos lined up fast and Ashton ploughed through the theline theline theline line for twenty yards A short forward pass put the ball bali on the High school 1 if yard line Une where wh re LeGro n widely circled the right end for a touchdown Ashton kicked goal Score 6 to 0 in favor of Granite The score however came to tn th thRed Red and Black warriors as a signal t tJ ti i play the game and from that time on cr they played superior ball making thc the yards on nearly every occasion The High school kicked to Ashton who advanced the ball 18 HI yards and on th the tha next down four more Ashton then punt punted ed ad to Romney who brought ball back to the center of at the field Goodspeed ft was as
