Show Vol Verda By MARY LANDEN Chelsea Cove continues to grow with about 60 homes occupied oc-cupied at present with an eventual 300 families expected expect-ed to be living in the development develop-ment which began about four years ago. It is expected that the project will be completed within another three years. Developer Bruce Broadhead is also beginning development of Chelsea View, east of Chelsea Cove above the golf course, where it is projected to have 100 homes. Most of those involved in the development are residents of Chelsea Cove, including Realty Sales Manager Vince Allen and family and Fred Bacchus and family whose Mountain West Excavating Company has done most of excavation. One of the new families in Chelsea Cove are Don and Jane Basinger at 2941 Oak-wood Oak-wood Drive between the Roskelleys and the Johnsons. The Basingers have five children. Chuck attending the U. of U., Steve attending school in New York; Julie Ann, David and Nathan. Don is a Lieutenant Colonel and Chief Navigator with the Air National Guard. The entire family is music oriented, beginning with Don, who plays string bass and has completed 21 years with the Utah Symphony. He has also taught music, orchestra and band at Woods Cross and Viewmont High Schools. Jane plays the piano and she and Don both sing with the Utah Chorale. Julie Ann recently received a superior rating for her violin selection at a school competition, and is presently preparing a solo for the University of Utah Music Festival sponsored by the National Federated Musicians. Hal and Jan Goates and their three children live at 968 Fast Chelsea Drive, next to the Bob Tibbetts family. They moved here from the avenues in Salt Lake City. Hal is the business manager at Marion Willey Ford in Bountiful. The family loves to snowmobile in the winter and go boating in the summer. Vern and Enid Dunn just recently moved into their new home at 928 Chelsea Drive. They have three grown children. The oldest is married and lives in Seattle. Their second daughter has stayed behind in San Jose and plans to be married in the Salt Lake Temple in April. Their son Rob is presently attending BYU where he is working on his masters degree in music. Vern's job is on the national staff of the Boy Scouts of America. The entire family are "rock-hounds," "rock-hounds," and Vern will resume his lapidary work once they get settled. Another new family, at 848 East Chelsea are Gordon and Susan Hoskins and their four year old son Brian. Gordon is comptroller for Cummins Internationa In-ternationa Diesel and Susan is an airline stewardess for Hughes AirWest. They moved here from Kaysville. They are travel enthusiasts and enjoy skiing. Tis the season again for the Relief Societies of the area to commemorate the Relief Society founding and anniversary. an-niversary. Some are having special dinners and programs for their partners, others are having a special luncheon following the regular meeting this week or next. Carolyn Dunn, consumer advocate, will speak on ihe theme "Happiness Begins With Me" in the Sixth Ward. On March 30, the adults of the Sixth Ward are hosting the youth to a party at the Regional Center. Homemaking day in the new Tenth Ward Relief Society this month featured an extraordinary fashion show that showed how to use "recycled" clothing, "shop on a budget" and how to 'make do" with what we 'have. Today has been the day for the "wearin o' the green," and pinching for those who don't. It's a St. Patty's Day Party tonight for the Tenth Ward elders and their wives at the Dick Winegar cabin in Summit Park. Janene Ihrig and Jon Briscoe Bris-coe were recently selected by the faculty and students of South Davis Jr. High School for outstanding scholarship, citizenship and personality. Janeen Chamberlain was quite busy last month showing show-ing the town to Dr. Broda Barnes, a Fort Collins doctor who specializes in the treat-. treat-. ment of hypothyroidism. After speaking at the LDS Hospital, Janeen and her sister Joanne have arranged to have him speak here in Bountiful to thyroid patients. We will also miss Paul and Janice Howard who have moved from their home at 36 West 3400 South with their sons into a new home near Viewmont High School. Moving in recently is Kathy Dides, who was born in Jerusalem. She has been in the United States just six years and is a Palestinian Arab like her niece Lillian Muna who lives nearby. Welcome to Lynn and Vicky Payne from Centerville who have moved into their new home at 3441 Medford Way. Lynn, an attorney is a Citv Prosecutor for Salt Lake City. We were sad to hear of the death of Tim Lawson's father last week in Salt Lake City. Private graveside services were held last Saturday. New neighbors at 3541 So. Lexington are Dim and Nonie Laurine with (heir iwo children. Don is a hydrologist with the National Weaiher Service, and is working on his masters degree at the U. of U. in environmental engineering. engineer-ing. New at 3429 Medford art-Paul art-Paul and Jeanne Wheelwright. Paul is an engineer en-gineer for Roberts and Schaeffer and and also sells, used cars on the side. Jeanne teaches Special Ed in the Granite School District. Both can be seen jogging around the block every morning. |
