Show William A. Whitehead Announces Marriage Of His Daughter, LaVerd The L. D. S. Institute building was the setting Friday evening. Dec. So, for the reception honoring the marriage of Miss LaVerd White-ihead White-ihead and Owen Holt Hammond, 1 son of Mrs. Horace Hammond of ! Ogden. The marriage ceremony I was performed in the St. George Temple early Friday afternoon by Pres. Harold S. Snow, with a small group of close relatives and I friends attending. 1 Miss Whitehead is a daughter I of William A. Whitehead of this I city, a graduate of the Dixie junior jun-ior college and of the U. S. A. C, and is employed as instructor in the home economics department of the Weber high school. Mr. Hammond is also a graduate of the U.S.A.C. For the reception, held from 7 to 9 p.m., the bride wore her wedding gown of white fraille taffeta taf-feta with bodice-fashioned waistline waist-line and extended train. Her finger-length veil of silk net fell from a coronet cap of seed pearls. Miss Whitehead designed and made her own wedding dress. Her boquet was of tiny white rosebuds rose-buds and gardenias. Her sister, DeVora Whitehead, was maid of honor. Another sister, Miss Ma-lissa Ma-lissa Whitehead and a close friend, Miss Adelia Hall, were bridesmaids. brides-maids. All three wore turquoise blue taffeta, duplicates of the bride's dress, but without trains. They carried old-fashioned nosegays. nose-gays. William Robert Whitehead, brother of the bride, was best man. The bridal party stood in front of a large pilar candlebra which held lighted candles, and the reception room was decorated decor-ated with tall white jars of pink gladiolus. Also in the receiving line were President and Mrs. Harold S. Snow, Mayor and Mrs. D. C. Watson Wat-son and the bride's father, Wlliam Whitehead, and her aunts, Mrs. Vivien Woodbury and Mrs. Bertha McGregor, and a cousin, Miss Mona Woodbury. Mrs. Woodbury wore black taffeta and lace, Mrs. McGregor, black and white, and Miss Woodbury, flame-blue velvet. Mrs. Virgil Snow was in charge of the gift room, assisted by Mrs. Naomi Fordham and Miss Laura Lytle. In charge of the serving room was Mrs. Jos. W. Judd, aunt of the bride. Miss Toni Watson and Miss Fern Starr poured and Miss Elaine Hafen and Miss Rhoda Cannon served. The serving table was covered with a white crocheted lace cover over turquoise blue satin. Centering Center-ing the table was an elaborate three-tiered wedding cake made and decorated by Mrs. James Mc-Arthur. Mc-Arthur. Music for the evening included saxophone numbers by Stanley and Ray Schmutz, violin duets by Von Cottam and Milton Schmutz, vocal numbers by Melba Baker, Mary Lou Schmutz and Jane Pace, with Mae A. Pace accom-panyng. accom-panyng. At nine p. m., the bride and groom left by auto for their honeymoon hon-eymoon in Southern California and will return to make their home in Ogden. v |
