Show Former Brigham Young Home To Be Scene of Mitchell-Simmons Wedding The historic St. George home of Pres. Brigham Young will furnish furn-ish the colorful setting for the Sunday evening, June 29 nuptials of Miss Margaret Mitchell, charming charm-ing daughter of Mrs. Vera Mitchell Mitch-ell of St. George, to Edward Junior Jun-ior Simmons, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Simmons, also of this city. Alexander B. Andrus, son of the late Capt. James Andrus of pioneer pio-neer fame and uncle of the bride will read the ceremony in the presence of family members and close friends of the couple. Standing in front of the flower laden, candle lighted- mantle in the elaborate living room of this historic old St. George residence, now the property of her grandfather, grand-father, J. M. Gates, Miss Mitchell and Mr. Simmons will take their marriage vows late Sunday eve ning, and will leave immediately for an extended honeymoon to Los Angeles and up the coast to the Pacific Northwest. The bride-elect is a graduate of the Dixie junior college and the Quish School of Beauty Culture and has been employed the past four years in the Moderne Beauty Salon in St. George. Mr. Simmons is also a Dixie graduate where he was prominent in student activities, activi-ties, and in June of this year he received his degree in business and economics at the University of Utah. Numerous social affairs have complimented Miss Mitchell during dur-ing the past 10 days, including an announcement breakfast Sunday morning, June 22, at the home of her cousin, Mrs. Reid Leigh; a miscellaneous shower Tuesday evening eve-ning at the home of Mrs. Anne R. Price; a shower Wednesday evening at the Walter Cannon home, with Miss Ramona Cannon as hostess, and a quilting bee last Monday afternoon at the Gates home when neighbors and friends joined in quilting two beautiful hand-pieced quilts, gifts of Miss Mitchell's 87-year-old great-grandmother, great-grandmother, Mrs. James A. Moy-er, Moy-er, of Clinton, Missouri. On Sunday, June 22, from 4 to 6 p. m., Miss Mitchell greeted her many friends at the home of Mrs. Anne R. Price, where she was assisted as-sisted by Mary Leigh, Alice Thompson, Mary Lou Wells, Jane Pace, Ramona Cannon and other intimate girl friends assisted with displaying the bride's trousseau. |
