Show Mr. and Mrs. Israel Heilson Sr. Celebrate Their 56th Wedding Anniversary WASHINGTON. Utah Mr. and Mrs. Israel Neilson Sr.. were happily surprised on the evening of February 22. the occasion being their fifty-sixth wedding anniversary. anniver-sary. Those who attended were Mr. and Mrs. W. O. Nisson, Mr. and Mrs. Antone Neilson. Mrs. Matilda Sorenson and Mr. and Mrs. Israel Neilson Jr. Light refreshments re-freshments interspread with visiting visit-ing and reminiscing were enjoyed for a couple of hours. Mr. Neilson, who is now nearing his ninety-first birthday, is the oldest person in town and one of the first to settle here. He emigrated emi-grated from Denmark with his parents when he was three years old. His father located and lived in Ephriam. Sanpete county, and remained there until ISfii. Receiving Re-ceiving a call from Pres. Brigham Young to come to the Dixie mission, mis-sion, the family left favorable surroundings, and with all their belongings packed in two wagons drawn by two yoke of oxen each, they came to Dixie. They arrived in 1S61. located a lot in Washington, Washing-ton, built a house on it, and Hr. Neilson has lived there until the present day. He married Gorgena Sorenson, who was also a convert from Denmark. Den-mark. Leaving her parents at the age of 14 and bringing with her her two younger brothers, Gorgena Gor-gena Sorenson emigrated to (Continued on page ten) Neilson Golden Wedding (Continued from first page) America and cared for the two younger children. Mr. and Mrs. Neilson are the parents of 11 children, seven of whom are still living. They know the trials and hardships of the settlement of Dixie, having passed through them all. At present they are enjoying reasonably good health and are optimistic of the future. |
