Sowards, R.N. at a retirement open house on Thursday, May 29, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Uintah County Hospital Conference Room. All of Mrs. Sowards' friends and relatives are invited to attend. Ruth J. Sowards came to Vernal July of 1937 to work in Dr. John Clark's hospital. It was here she met and married Leland Sowards. After a few years of starting a family, Mrs. Sowards went to Uintah County Hospital in 1950 and 1951. She quit work in 1953 and 1954, then went back to work full time as the night shift nurse for four years. She changed over to shift work for several years after that. Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Sowards was the full time night nurse. Mrs. Sowards has worked under the administration of Erland Preece, John Arnold and Ron Perry. She has worked under the direction of three directors of nursing Constance B. Thorne, Genevieve Stanfill, and Pat Tadich. Mrs. Sowards has spent about 25 years in service at the Uintah County Hospital. |
