Show Bird-Allred Wedding Lovely Summer Event A lovely summer wedding was that of Miss Virginia Bird, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Freeman Bird of Mapleton, and R. Chase Allred, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Allred of Mehi, which was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple June 25. The same evening, the couple was honored with a wedding reception recep-tion in the Mapleton ward church, with a large group of relatives and friends in attendance. A nicely-arranged nicely-arranged program and refreshments refresh-ments featured the occasion. The bride was charmingly attired at-tired in a white silk embroidered mousseline de soi wedding gown designed and made by herself. She wore a waist-length veil of bride's illusion edged in stephanotis and her lovely bride's bouquet was of tiny Cecil Bruderer rosebuds and white stephanotis with filmy white satin ribbon and streamers. The bride was attended by Mrs. Don Swenson, matron of honor, who wore a pink formal and carried car-ried a white nosegay of sweetpeas. Miss Barbara Bird, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. She wore yellow and carried a lavender nosegay of sweetpeas. Miss Mary Ann Bird, sister of the bride, was bridesmaid and wore a blue formal accentuated with a nosegay of pink ' sweetpeas. Little Katherine Keate niece of the bridegroom, was his brother, Ralph Allred of New York City. Also in the receiving line were the parents of the bride and groom. Mrs. Allred wore a pretty blue crepe with corsage of yellow rosebuds. rose-buds. Mrs. Bird was attired in a black formal with gardenias, and pink rosebud corsage. During the evening, Mr. and Mrs. R. F. Bird acted as host and hostess, meeting the many friends and relatives. In charge of the gift room was Mrs. Stewart Whiting, twin sister sis-ter of the bride, and she was assisted as-sisted by Mrs. Dean Gillman, Mrs. Blaine Thorn, Miss Doris Hales and Miss Yvonne Hurst. Mrs. L. L. Cullimore of Provo, supervised the serving in the recre-tion recre-tion hall. Mrs. Webster Decker of New York and Mrs. Bernell Coons of Salt Lake City, sisters of the bridegroom, poured. Also assisting as-sisting with the serving were, Miss Edna Nielson, Miss Aileen Hales, Miss Coleen Callister, Miss Joyce Whiting, Miss Orpha Stokes, Miss Violet Asburg, Miss Sybil Clark, Mrs. Donald' Blanchard, Mrs. Tha-les Tha-les Brown and Mrs. Lavell Bird. The program was enjoyed by the guests in the chapel of the church with Wm. T. Tew, master of ceremonies. cere-monies. Mary Bird was the accompanist ac-companist for program numbers. The chapel and recreation hall were beautifully decorated ,with lovely summer flpjvers for the wedding. wed-ding. Immediately after the reception, re-ception, the couple left on a ten-day ten-day honeymoon trip to Yellowstone Yellow-stone Park. The bride's going-away outfit consisted of an attractive gray dressmaker suit, red straw hat trimmed with black ribbon, black patent shoes and bag and white gloves. The couple are making their home in Provo, where both plan to continue their studies at the Brig-ham Brig-ham Young University. |
