Thorn, nee Miss Norma Brockbanlc .' , Mr. and Mrs. Robert Thorn Honored At Lovely Reception Thursday Eve A lovely social event of the past week was the wedding reception honoring Mr. and Mrs. Robert P. Thorn, on Thursday evening in Kolob Stake amusement amuse-ment hall. Many relatives and a beautiful 3-tiered wedding cake with yellow rose-bud trim centering center-ing the serving table. Yellow candles in crystal holders with yellow yel-low rose-buds entwined were also a part of the table decorations. Serving refreshments were, Karen Ka-ren White, Bliss Larsen, .Lois Peterson Pe-terson and Jane Harrison. The newlyweds, who have both been studying at Brigham Young University and are prominent in music, will honeymoon in Southern South-ern California, and on their return will make their home in Springville. " friends attended from Springville and nearby cities and from out of the state. The couple was married on Wed-' Wed-' nesday in the Salt Lake Temple, with Spencer W. Kimball perform-J perform-J ing the ceremony. The bride', for-C for-C merly Miss Norma Brockbank, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Brockbank, and Robert is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Thorn. Immediately after the ceremony 'he bride and groom were honored hon-ored at a wedding dinner in Hotel Utah for immediate family members mem-bers and clos,e friends, many of r whom witnessed the ceremony. The dining table held a beautiful beauti-ful low bowl of white stock and red roses and host and hostess, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Thorn, pre sented their new daughter-in-law with an orchid corsage. Attending the dinner were: Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Brockbank, Dr. and Mrs. Reed Brockbank of Chicago; Chi-cago; Mr. and Mrs. Bill Prussee, Mrs. Henrietta Harmer, Mr. and Mrs. A. O. Thorn, Mr. and Mrs. Mark W. Johnson of Salt Lake City and Mrs. Marvin O. Ashton. The bride greeted guests at the reception in an exquisite gown' of I nylon tulle and Chantilly lace. It was fashioned with tight fitting lace bodice, scalloped neckline edged in pearls and long pointed sleeves. The full skirt and train were of nylon tulle and the fingertip finger-tip veil of bride's illusion was caught to her head with a tierra of lace and tiny pearls. She carried car-ried a bridal bouquet of steph-antois steph-antois centered with a white orchid. or-chid. Attending the bride as matron of honor was her sister, Mrs. William Wil-liam D. Prusse, who chose a gown of blue lace and chiffon. Bridesmaids Brides-maids were Mrs. Richard Sumsion, Melba Child and June Thorn. They wore floorlength dresses of yellow frosted organdy over taffeta, designed de-signed like the bride's gown. The attendants all carried nosegays of stephanotis and daisies. Mrs. Brockbank, mother of the bride, chose a coral crepe model with bead trim, and the bridegroom's bride-groom's mother appeared in an aqua gown of lace and crepe. They wore identical corsages of white orchids. Brother of the ' bridegroom, Jimmy Thorn, and Richard Sumsion, Sum-sion, both stood in line sharing the duties of best man. Flower girls were three little nieces of the bride, Carolyn Brockbank, Kathleen Kath-leen and Linda Prusse. The young couple stood before a double row of candelabra banked with flowers, in artistic arrangements ar-rangements of white phlox and blue majestic daisies, white peonies and bridal wreath. Greeting guests at the door were Mr. and Mrs. Grant Thorn. In charge of the guest book during the evening were Mrs. Elaine Harkness, Mrs. Marge Harding Clements, Mrs. Jane Cherrington Norton and Eva Leslie. Presiding in the gift rooms were Mrs. Fenton Gardner, Mrs. Sperry Manwaring, Mrs. Reed Brockbank, Mrs. J. W. Johnson, Mrs. Golden Johnson, Mrs. Joe Miller and Mrs. Betty Johnson. Mrs. Milton Harrison Har-rison was in charge of the serving, serv-ing, assisted by twelve young ladies. ' During the receiving and serving, serv-ing, background music was furnished fur-nished by Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Hicks of Salt Lake City, who entertained en-tertained with xylophone duets. Other musical numbers at intervals inter-vals throughout the evening were vocal solos by Mrs. Cora Thorn j Bird of Los Angeles, solos by j Elaine Jones Harkness, a trio con- I sisting of Janice Sargent, Doreen i Schouten and Anna Marie Fry. ; and numbers by the stake male i chorus, directed , by William j Schreiner. j Toward the close of the evening I the girls of the Val Norn Social j Unit circled the bride and groom j and sang their bride song and i sweetheart song. j An attractive color scheme in yellow, blue and white was carried car-ried out in details of the reception. |
