Show Plans Complete For Canteen Opening Youngv People 15 to 19 Invited To Enroll At Opening June 4, At Ladies'-Gym In High School; Supervisors Are Appointed The young people of Springville and Mapleton, as well as their parents, are looking forward with enthusiasm to the opening of the Teen Age Canteen, which is scheduled for the evening of June 4, at 7:30 p m., in the Ladies' Gym at the high school. r With the opening of the recreational recrea-tional project, boys and girls of the city will have a definite place of entertainment well supervised, and their parents will know that there is a place in which their -boys and girls may meet and enjoy en-joy themselves with others of their own age. An enrollment fee of $1 is being charged to help defray expenses and already approximately approximate-ly 200 boys and girls have enrolled. en-rolled. The Canteen will be open from 7:30 p. m., to 10:30 p. m., each evening except Sunday, and supervisors sup-ervisors will be in attendance at all times. Many more young people peo-ple are expected to enroll as the project gets underway. Similar recreational facilities have been provided by other cities and have proven successful. The Canteen in a measure helps to solve the problem of providing suitable entertainment for boys and girls of this age. Mr. Gilbert reports that half of the Gym has been arranged for dancing and the other portion of the floor for games. Two pool tables have been installed, as well as two Ping oPng games. Shuffle Board courts have been painted and dart games been arranged. Plans are also being made for a reading room and those in charge of arrangements are urging urg-ing any contributions which may be used in a reading, to be made as soon as possible. Several clubs and other organizations have already al-ready contributed cash and equipment. equip-ment. The Canteen will have a juke box and a snack bar as added attractions. at-tractions.
