Show Ladies Literary Club Holds Last Meeting Ladies Literary club members were entertained at the home of Mrs. J. Y. Bearnson Tuesday evening even-ing at the last regular meeting of the club year. The program included a review of the book, "The Cruel Sea" by Nicholas Monsarrat, given by Mrs. Dave Friel. It told ' of an English ship crew during World War II giving a picture of the tragedies connected with warfare- on ' the sea and of the sufferings of the I seamen away from their homes, j Mrs. Mary Ann Mendenhall entertained en-tertained with two vocal solos, accompanied ac-companied by Mrs. V. C. Mendenhall. Menden-hall. The meeting was in charge of Mrs. Gene Johnson, who asked Mrs. Howard Maycock, retiring secretary to give the financial report. re-port. Rea Straw gave the club collect. Being the last club meeting, Mrs. Johnson, retiring president, was given a vote of thanks for her work during the year. Preceeding the program, the hostess served a tasty tray lunch, asisted by her mother, Mrs. Ella Reynolds and sister, Mrs. V. C. Mendenhall, to twenty - one club members and guests. |
