The efforts of the women of welfare organizations are now being directed toward enlarging the local Red Cross fund. In response to a request from the Red Cross society both picture houses here gave benefit shows the past week. About $45 was realized. The formal opening of the Country club Thursday evening was one of the leading social events of the season. It was celebrated with a delightful dancing party, pians of which were arranged and carried out by Mrs. Crawford Moore, Mrs. N. E. Braaie, E. M. Hoover, Dr. Brandit. Robert Davidson David-son and Max Mayfield. The dancing pavilion pa-vilion was beautifully decorated in the national colors. An enlarged orchestra furnished a programme of all the late dance music and dancing was enjoyed until after midnight. The affair was attended at-tended by a large number of club members mem-bers and several guests who are visiting in Boise. In compliment to Mrs. Harry Stuart Derby of San Francisco and Miss Edith Sherman of Berkeley, Cah, Mrs. Charles O. Davidson opened her beautiful new home on Warm Springs avenue Friday afternoon at a reception from 4 to C o'clock to meet the visitors. The spacious rooms were charmingly adorned with a variety of garden flowers. Yellow, pink and purple iris, pink peonies and carnations carna-tions and yellow roses were used. The dining room was done in pink, and pouring pour-ing in turn at the table were Mrs. Robert Rob-ert Davidson, Mrs. B. G. Brown, Mrs. W. E. Reynolds, Mrs. C. P. Wilson and Mrs. W. M. Davidson. Mrs. Derby is a sister or -Mrs. j. u. uavicison, and m honor of Mrs. Derby and Miss Sherman a number of parties are being planned during their visit in Boise. One of the, enjoyable events of the. week was the reception given Wednesday evening by the Alumnae association of Si. Teresa's academy. It was given in honor of the graduates. Miss Marie Hummel, Hum-mel, Miss Bernardino Schilling, Miss Cecil VVhalen and Miss Clarice E. Gray. It was attended by a large number belonging to the alumnae and a few guests. Music Mu-sic was a feature. Refreshments were served from a prettily adorned table. A silver tea was given Tuesday afternoon after-noon and evening in connection with the art exhibit at Carnegie hall. The splendid splen-did collection of paintings by Arthur J. Powell are being shown by the Art league, and Tuesday the ladies of the fourth division bad charge. It was a very successful suc-cessful affair and much enjoyed by all who attended. One-half of the proceeds was given to the Red Cross. Mr. and Mrs. L. P. Gurnhaum, formerly for-merly ot Boise, who are now living in San Francisco, hace announced the engagement en-gagement of their daughter, Irene, to Major C. C. '"oliins, I". S. A. medical department. The marriage will take place upon the return of the major from France, for which place he sailed from New York a fortnight ago in charge of cue of the medical uuits.
