Show NEW S. L. CHURCH TO BE DEDICATED The newly-erected $25,000 St. John's Evangelical Lutheran church, 1030 Fifth East street, will be dedicated before a large congregation con-gregation Sunday at 11:30 a. m. by the Rev. F. F. Schumann, pastor. Sre Picture on Picture Pace The dedicatory sermon will be delivered by the Rev. Otto Lues-aenhop, Lues-aenhop, chairman of the mission board of the Utah and Colorado dis- trict. Another service of thanksgiving thanks-giving will be conducted at the new edifice at 6:30 p. m. The Rev. William Wil-liam Arndt, professor of Greek New Teetament exegesis at Concordia seminary in St. Louis, Mo., will deliver de-liver the sermon. Chorus to Sing At this service the children's chorus of the church will furnish music under the direction of Raymond Ray-mond Mueller. A reception will follow, at which refreshments will be served, under the auspices of the ladies of the congregation. e The Rev. Mr. Schumann said a brief farewell service will be held at the old church, 130 East Seventh Sev-enth South street, at 11 a. m. Following Fol-lowing this ceremony, the congregation, congre-gation, which numbers mors than 300, will form v automobile xarv. van and go to the new church. The old church, which is for sale, was built In 1905 under the- leadership leader-ship of the Rev. W. J. Lankow, now pastor in Santa Ana, Cal. Rev. Mr. Schumann became pastor here 11 years ago. The one over the altar represents rep-resents Christ's last supper, while the one over the entrance shows Jesus blessing little children. The 16 windows in the nave of the church depict the story of man's fall into sin, the nativity, the principal prin-cipal incidents in the life of Christ Ground-breaking ceremonies for the newly-built church were held in June, and the cornerstone was laid at impressivs services in August. Au-gust. The Walther league chorus will furnish music at Sunday morning services. |
