Show Monday Car Crash Fatal To Merlon S. Daniels; Funeral Services Today Funeral services were held today at 2 o'clock in the Roosevelt Roos-evelt stake chapel, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, for Merton Stanley Daniels, Dan-iels, 31, who died Monday evening eve-ning at about 8:40 when his 1937 coupe overturned about six miles east of Roosevelt on Highway 40, pinning his body under the wreckage. Burial .was in the Roosevelt cemetery, under un-der the direction of the Dillman mortuary. A passenger, Blake Johnstun, 17, Roosevelt, escaped unhurt. 1 He told investigators he had been dozing, but awakened to find the car swerving back on the highway before overturning on the road's left side. Mr. Daniels was pinned un- der the car as it crashed into a barrow pit. Trooper Sam Hatch of the state highway patrol investigated. investigat-ed. The car was returning to Roosevelt from Vernal. Mr. Johnstun is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Johnstun, Roosevelt. Roos-evelt. Mr. Daniels died before medical med-ical assistance could be given him. He suffered internal injuries in-juries and a punctured lung. I Mr. Daniels was born Feb. 20, 1919, at Ft. Duchesne, a son of Walter and Amelia Crumbo Daniels. He received his elementary ele-mentary school education at Ft. Duchesne and was graduated from Roosevelt high school in i 1938. He later attended Hena-! Hena-! ger and the LDS business colleges col-leges in Salt Lake City. I He was a civilian mechanic at 1 Hill air force base in World War II.
