Show WOMEN GIVEN RIGHTS IN AFRICAN M. E. CHURCH ST. LOUIS, May IS. Revision of th,o denominational regulations giving giv-ing women the right of representation Jn the church boards of trustees and making them eligible for election as delegates to general conferences, were approved by the general- conference of tho African Methodist Episcopal church yesterday. The conference also voted a general increase in wages to ministers as follows. fol-lows. , Presiding elders $1,200 to 5 1.S00 yearly, elders, married $800 to 1,200, j and unmarried 500 to 700. The Episcopal committee reported on the assignment of bishops. Among them are Bishop W. D. Johnson, Waco, Tex.;' Bishop W. Sampson. Sl- erra Lcnoc, West Africa district; I Bishop W. T. Vernon, Cape Town, I South Africa district and Bishop Will-lr.m Will-lr.m A. Fontain, Los Angeles district. |
