Show District Judge Seeks Election Marriner M. Morrison, judge pro tcm of the Utah First Jud-i. cial district, has announced his candidacy for election to that office following filing of his nomination nom-ination petition with Secretary of State E. E. Monson. Judge Morrison was appointed to the posit-ion he seeks on May 1, 1941 when Lewis Jones, now gorving as judge advocate in the Hawaiian Islands, entered the armed forces. Since that time he has presided over the First District Dis-trict court, which comprises Cache, Rich and Box Elder counties. "I am committed to the prompt, courageous and impartial administration adminis-tration of equity and justice," he said in announcing his candidacy. "Let the chips fall where they may, I have no other policy or inclination. My record of past service, will bear me out.'' Judge Morrison is a native of Richmond, Cache county, and is the son of Andrew and Hattie Merrill Morrison. He graduated "1 from Utah State Agricultural college col-lege and of George Washington 1 University. He was elected Box Elder county district attorney in 1940 and served in that position until appointed to the judicial bench the following year. Active throughout northern Utah in civic affairs, he is a member of the Brigham city chamber of commerce, junior chamber of commerce and the Brigham Lions club, the Logan chamber of commerce and is an honorary member of the Logan Junior chamber of commerce. He was awarded the civic service award in 1942 given by the U. S. Junior chamber of commerce. Judge Morrison also is chairman chair-man of the Box Elder county home and family life education committee. |
