Show SENTIMENT POINTS TO SOUTH ROUTE PAROWAN'S VOICE ADDED TO DEMAND There seems to be little chance that; Garfield county's outlet to the west will be a road coming in to the Arrowhead Ar-rowhead trail by way of the Buckskin flats. Not only does Panguitch itself it-self want the more southern route through the mountains, but Parowan too, is taking a great interest in having hav-ing a well-constructed highway made out of the Little Creek trail. The route which the southern people say will be more serviceable to them, will not greatly affect travel to and from Milford, as this end of Beaver county is a little too far removed from the proposed junction of the roads. Garfield county people feel that they need an improved highway west, and will doubtless select the south road, raise funds, and improve it. The Parowan Times has the following follow-ing to say on the subject: "Will the road from Panguitch to this side of the mountain eventually be built by way of Little Creek Peak and Little Creek canyon, or will we in this section sit complacently by while our neighbors over in Beaver county pull it away from us and direct the traffic from over the mountain around us ? "If the road doesn't go to Beaver county, it will not be because they are indifferent about it, while if it does go that way, it will be because we are supine in the matter. From their local papers we note that Milford Mil-ford particularly is making a strenuous strenu-ous effort to have the road go that way, and Beaver is not indifferent about it. But a majority of the Panguitch Pan-guitch people favor coming this way and will make every effort to have the road come this way if the least interest is shown on this side. A splended article on the merits of the two routes by our friend W. W. Hou-ton Hou-ton was published in last week's Garfield Gar-field County News, from which it is plain to be seen that he favors coming this way. Space doesn't permit, per-mit, or we should like to reprint that article. Parowan, Paragonah and Cedar City should keep on the job if they want the Garfield county busi-; noss, (and certainly they do) until the I road is built this way." j |
