Show ROBERT BRAITHWAITE AND ARLENE VAN DYKE Van Dyke, Braithwaite reveal nuptial plans Mr. and Mrs. .Herbert Van Dyke of Salt Lake City are pleased to announce the engagement en-gagement of their daughter Ar-lene Ar-lene to Robert Braithwaite, son of Pres. and Mrs. Royden C. Braithwaite. Miss Van Dyke Is a graduate of Highland High School where she was a Sterling Scholar in art. She received a four-year presidential scholarship to the University of Utah where she majored in graphic design and secondary education. She has taught special education students, stu-dents, and graduated magna cum laude from the University. Mr. Braithwaite is a graduate of Cedar High School. He attended at-tended SUSC for two years, and graduated magna cum laude from the University of Utah in Political Science in 1973. While at the University he held an internship with the 1971 Salt Lake City majorality campaign, an internship with the 1973 Utah State Legislature, and worked as a reporter and guest editorialist for the Daily Utah Chronicle. He worked in Washington, Wash-ington, D. C. the past three summers at the Census Bureau, the Washington Monument, and the Smithsonian Institute. Following a January wedding in the Manti Temple the couple cou-ple will live in Salt Lake City where Arlene is currently a staff artist and news photographer photo-grapher for the Deseret News, and Bob is attending the University Uni-versity of Utah College of Law. Tests also can detect carriers of some inborn metabolic metab-olic errors such as Tay-Sachs disease. |
