Show 20th anniversary celebrated by A. A. group in Parowan The Paragonah-Parowan Alcoholic Anonymous group celebrated its 20th Birthday with a party held at the Parowan Elementary social-facilities on Feb. 16. A banquet was prepared by Orilla Lister with a delicious baked chicken dinner and hot rolls. Salads and pasteries were prepared by the Ladies of A. A. Following the banquet an A. A. meeting was held after which dancing was enjoyed with music by Heber Lund's Orchestra of Cedar City. Local Churchmen were in attendance as guests, and Government officials from the Parowan City Council, and from the State Department of Alcohol and Drug Abuse. Present as guests were A. A. members from Kanab, St. George, Hurricane, Cedar City, Milford, Panguitch, Beaver and from some towns where A. A. groups are not organized. Local members working under the direction of Scott M., Chairman, report that about 140 persons enjoyed the evening activities. Throughout the 20 years existence of the Group between 70 to 90 members have affiliated. Expressions of gratitude were made by the group to the City of Parowan and the Parowan Library Board who have provided a place each week for AA to meet. The design for the New Library under the Library Board and City Council provided facilities for AA to meet, and for other such Groups. Meetings are held each Monday night in the Parowan Library Lounge at 8 p.m. All interested persons are invited to attend to investigate the AA philosophy. |
