Show Logan Temple rites unite Leavitt, Smith V J Y. n Mr. and Mrs. Lewis C Smith are pleased to announce the marriage of their daughter, Jacalyn, to Michael Okerlund Leavitt, son of Senator and Mrs. Dixie L. Leavitt of Cedar City. The couple were married Friday July 6, In the Logan LDS Temple. They were honored hon-ored at a dinner given by the groom's parents at Sherwood Hills. That evening a reception recept-ion was held at the home of the bride's sister and brother, in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Augene Needham. An open house was hosted In Cedar City at the home of the groom's parents on Satur. day, July 14. Jacalyn is a graduate of Sky View High School and seminary. She completed her Bachelor's Degree with honors hon-ors last spring in Speech-Drama Education. She received her Associate Degree at Dixie Jr. College graduating as a high honor student. While there she represented Dixie as their Homecoming Queen and as a song leader. She was active ac-tive in dramatic and musical productions and was listed In Who's Who. While at Utah State Univer. sity, Jacalyn was named to Phi Kappa Phi scholastic fraternity fra-ternity and to Mortar Board, outstanding senior women's honorary fraternity. She was MR. AND MRS MICHAEL O. LEAVITT chosen a cheerleader and a songleader and selected as a member of Angel Flight. She was an officer of Alpha Lamb-a Lamb-a Delta scholastic organiza. tion and was active in Chi Omega social sorority. She was chosen to reign in the Intercollegiate In-tercollegiate Knight, Military Ball, and Junior Prom royal, ties. Jacalyn attended Southern Utah State College where sip had many roles In musical and dramatic productions. She was chosen the Homecoming Queen and participated last summer in the Shakespearean Festival plays. She was chosen 1st runner-up runner-up to Miss Utah and Utah's Junior Miss, named Utah's Girl of the Year, and represented represen-ted Utah at the National Sweetheart Pageant in Hoop, eston, Illnois. Michael graduated from Cedar High School and seminary sem-inary where he was active in music, athletics, and forens. ics. He has filled an LDS mission mis-sion to Oregon. He is working as an insurance consultant at the Dixie Leavitt Insurance Agency, and is completing his degree at SUSC. Michael has recently returned from Hartford. Hart-ford. Conn, where he graduated graduat-ed from a multiple line insurance insur-ance course. 'He Is serving as a second councilor df the Branch Pres. idency of the SUSC Fourth Branch. As a member of the Utah National Guard, he has been selected and is attending attend-ing Officer Candidate School at the Utah Military Academy. Following their marriage, the couple will make their home in Cedar City while he continues his studies. |
