Show Reading club ladies Mrs. Sargent guests The reading club met July 9 at Mildred Sargent's home. Blanch Webster gave the history of Czechoslovakia, a country located between the Communist and the free world. Founders of the nation, she reports were Czechs and Slovaks. The members learned that Thomas Masaryk becamp the nation's first president. They have always been a strong and independant nation and have overcome hardships and endured en-dured oppression from countries coun-tries -- first the Germans and then the Russians. Mrs. Webster indicated that the Czochoslovakians have great leaders in music and composers citing Mozart as an example. She also reported that they are gradually developing devel-oping into a modern nation. Refreshments were served by the hostess to nine members mem-bers and Zelma Lunt, who was a special guest at the meeting. |
