Show , flREfi OBITUARIES V ' Mary Sargent Mary Dempsier Houston Sargent, 95, Panguitch, died Nov. 20, 1986 in St. George. She was born Nov. 5, 1891, Panguitch, to Thomas and Christena Schow Houston. She was married to Norman W. Sargent, July 2, 1912, Panguitch; later solemnized in the St. George LDS Temple. He died Jan. 5, 1958. She was active in the LDS Church, serving in the Sunday School and Primary. She sang in the ward choir for many years and served as organist and director. She was a member of Camp Lahova Daughters of Utah Pioneers. For 30 years she was telephone operator alid messenger for Garfield Gar-field Telephone and Telegraph Co. She owned and operated The Toggery Clothing Store for 15 years. She was an active member of the Democratic Party, serving as Garfield County chairman and judge of election. She served as a member of the Utah House of Representatives in 1965. She filled an LDS stake mission, was ward historian and later served as historian for the Utah Historical Society. Survivors: daughter, Mrs. Nina S. Hatch, Panguitch; four grandchildren; grand-children; 21 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were Saturday in the Panguitch Second Ward chapel with Elder Vaughn Heaton, officiating. of-ficiating. Gordon C. Henrie offered the family prayer; Barbara Orton and Irene McEwen played prelude and postlude music and James Boucher offered the invocation. A tribute was given by Kate H. Church. Speakers were Wesley C. Walton with remarks by Elder ' Heaton. Music included selections .t ... i " t i t ' ; i I-I I-I I ' Mary Sargent by the Panguitch Tri-Ward Choir and a vocal solo by Ruth Tibbs. Norman Dale Henrie offered the benediction. Interment was in the Panguitch Cemetery by Neal S. Magleby and Sons Mortuary, Richfield, where Steven G. Hatch offered the dedicatory prayer., Pallbearers were James Boucher, Kelly LeSuer, Steven G. Hatch, Danny Boucher, Tony Henrie, Dale Henrie, Gordon C. Henrie and Norman T. Henrie. |
