Show Smithfield Folk Celebrate at the James Mack Park . i Smithfield Wednesday proved to be another red letter day in the history of Smithfield, when a celebration was held to commemorate commem-orate the completion of improvements improve-ments outlined for tho city at the time the James Mack family gave a tract of land to be used for a public park and to be known as the James Mack Memorial Park. The park has many attractive features as nature formed and nourish d. The work of man has been to enhance, beautify and subdue objectionable features. The creek has been rocked up bridgse built, a walk built on the banks, ornam rital trees and shrubs planted, plant-ed, three forums cleared where brick bake ovens have been built, tables and seats built,, a water system and electric lights Install In-stall 'd, rest rooms built and good roads are found winding around through the park. The program commenced at 2 p.m. with Dr. T. W. Jarvis in I charge. Mayor Oliver Nilson gave ! the speech of welcome. Mrs. Les-j Les-j lie Hansen's glee club, B irtha's Boys under the direction of Mrs. Bertha Mather, the Aura Lee girls I gle? under the direction of Miss I Oralie Cragun, and the Gala glee I directed by Mrs. Lundquist, furnished fur-nished the singing.
