Show H.C. MAUGHAN REPRESENTS LOGAN CITY Heber C. Maughan, superintendent superinten-dent of the Logan Municipal Electric Elec-tric Plant, is representing Mayor A. G. Lundstrom at the municipal league convention being held at Cedar City. Mayor Lundstrom was unable to attend the convention. Mr. Maughan responded to the welcome address by Mayor Charles R. Hunter of Cedar City and urged the discussion of problems confronting city officials. Problems urged for discussion were traffic liquor, and sources of revenue for policing cities. Mayor Harman Peery of Ogden fired the convention when he assailed the limitation ol beer licenses li-censes and the injustice of selling liquor in the state untaxed, while food and other necessities were "taxed to the limit," Mr. Peery also urged immediate legislative action looking to the adjustment of the present "unfair distribution of tax moneys." "If the legislature is reconvened for this purpose I would suggest that they adopt as their motto to render to the cities that which is rightfully theirs, and give to the state only that which belongs ta it," Mayor Peery said. 0 |
