Show - V THE CITY ELECTION j THE citv election of Milford is to be held Tuesday, 'November 6th, at which time five citizens will be elected to constitute a Town Board. There are probably not five men in Milford more representative or more capable of per- forming the duties of town trustees than the present membership of that j body. It is not alone, however, how I capable but how willing will the citizens citi-zens chosen be to give the necessary time and attention to the city's affairs to get something done for real progress and community advancement. Aside from the very commendable work of sewer extension there has not been much done the past year for city betterment. bet-terment. There is much that might be done if the members of the town board will act as leaders to promote and encourage en-courage public improvements. The News has no ax to grind. We have no favorite candidates. We do hope that the citizens who accept the office at the next election will become leaders of progresspromoters of enterprises such as uniform tree planting on various streets, insistent upon the enforcement of the city ordinances in regard to loose stock that tree planting and yard improvements im-provements will be protected ; sidewalk building; better streets; the encouragement encour-agement and co-operation necessary to the establishment of a public library, a cijy hall and fire house. And, in short, that they will be leaders and not lag-gers lag-gers in community affairs. n |
